The Best Quality CaCO3 Powder for Filler Masterbatch Used by MASCOM GLOBAL

CaCO3 Powder for Filler Masterbatch

CaCO3 Powder for Filler Masterbatch is the most effective cost-saving solution for global plastic manufacturers. By partially replacing virgin polymer in extrusion, injection molding, and blow molding processes,  CaCO3 Powder for Filler Masterbatch not only reduces production costs but also enhances output, improves processing conditions, and boosts the physical and chemical properties of finished plastic products.

However, the quality of CaCO3 filler masterbatch can vary significantly depending on its formulation—especially the CaCO3 powder quality, carrier resin type, additives, and compounding technology. At MASCOM GLOBAL JSC, CaCO3 content typically accounts for 70–85% of the final masterbatch formula, making the quality of the powder critically important.

1. Why CaCO3 Powder Quality Matters

CaCO3 (calcium carbonate), also known as carbonic acid calcium salt, is an odorless, tasteless powder or crystalline substance found naturally in chalk, limestone, and marble. Though chemically identical, these materials vary in purity, density, and whiteness.

At MASCOM GLOBAL, we only use premium-quality CaCO3 powder sourced from Nghe An and Yen Bai—Vietnam’s most reputable stone quarries. These sources provide ultra-pure, high-brightness calcium carbonate essential for consistent and superior masterbatch performance.

2. What is pure CaCO3 Powder ?

Calcium carbonate makes up over 4% of the Earth’s crust. In nature, it occurs in three main forms: chalk, limestone, and marble. Despite sharing the same chemical formula (CaCO3), their industrial value varies based on whiteness, brightness, purity, and physical form.

Pure CaCO3 powder refers to the highest-grade calcium carbonate—finely ground, bright white, and often coated (or uncoated) depending on application needs. At MASCOM GLOBAL, we use uncoated natural superfine CaCO3 powder for optimal polymer compatibility and dispersion.

3. Physical and Chemical Properties of CaCO3 Powder for Filler Masterbatch

3.1. The physical properties of calcium carbonate

Pure calcium carbonate is in solid form (usually in the form of fine powder), odorless and have white color with melting temperature ranging from 800 to 1400oC. Their molecular weight is 100,087 g/mol.

3.2. Chemical properties of calcium carbonate

The reason that manufacturers can widely use calcium carbonate filler in plastic production is because chemical properties of CaCO3 powder for filler masterbatch and the plastic in the association with are not changed when mixed together with many plastic types and other additives. In addition, calcium carbonate is also insoluble in water, stable under normal temperature conditions and only reacts with some strong acids (such as HCl), medium (as sulfamic) or weak acids (acetic, citric, phosphoric, lactic, sorbic). Thanks to these properties, plastic products generated from calcium carbonate masterbatch will be applied in a wide range of fields, including those required the assurance on user’s safety such as the food and beverage industry.

4. Why CaCO3 Powder Works So Well in Plastics

The popularity of CaCO3 powder for filler masterbatch lies in its chemical stability and non-reactivity with most polymers and additives. It is insoluble in water, stable at normal temperatures, and only reacts with acids—making it ideal for applications that require long-term durability and user safety, including food packaging.

👉 In addition to filler masterbatch applications, PVC compounds are also widely used in industrial plastic manufacturing, especially in sealing and connection parts. If you are working with PVC-based products, explore our high-performance solutions:

PVC Compound for Gasket – durable, elastic materials for sealing applications.

PVC Compound for Fitting – rigid compounds ideal for pipe connectors and joint parts.

5. CaCO3 Production Technologies in Vietnam

Vietnam is one of the leading suppliers of high-purity CaCO3 in the world. Commercial-grade calcium carbonate is produced in two main ways:

5.1 Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC)

  • Made by mechanically grinding natural limestone, chalk, or marble
  • MASCOM GLOBAL uses GCC from white crystalline limestone
  • Processed using Hosokawa Alpine (Germany) advanced grinding systems

5.2 Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC)

  • Produced chemically through the recarbonization process
  • Offers controlled morphology but is more expensive
  • Mainly used in applications requiring ultra-fine, highly pure powder

Despite Vietnam’s extensive CaCO3 reserves, only a few deposits meet the strict criteria (purity, color, thickness, consistency) for industrial use. MASCOM GLOBAL ensures all raw materials are carefully selected to maintain consistent quality in every batch of filler masterbatch.

6. CaCO3 Ultrafin powder used at MASCOM JSC

we use Natural Superfine Calcium Carbonate uncoated with stearic acid. Manufactured from white and pure crystalline limestone/calcium carbonate; produced by the most advanced technological GCC plants of Hosokawa Alpine, Germany to assure our best quality of CaCO3 powder for filler masterbatch
